Case Conceptualization and Interventions in Severe Mental Illnesses Based on the Model of Contextual Family Therapy

Objectivesdemonstrate that Contextual Therapy offers a model to bridge the gap between a biological and a systemic view of mental illnesses that provides new resources which can be used by all therapists who work with clients suffering from serious mental illness; show how contextual therapy can promote a more meaningful dialogue between individual and family therapists; Focus both at a theoretical and a clinical level (through case presentations) on the treatment process, starting with evaluation using the five dimensions, and continuing with the setting of treatment goals, interventions and definition of the therapeutic moment; explain how to use multidirected partiatily to reach these goals, emphasizing what is specific to the therapy of patients with major mental illnesses.

Language in which the professional activity will be held – English (we will offer assistance for those people who understand English, but don’t speak it well enough to interact with the trainer).

Potential participants: psychotherapists, counselors, physicians, psychologists, special educators, social assistants, theologists, philosophers and students of the enumerated specialties.

Policy regarding absence: It is possible to miss a maximum of 4 hours of the entire duration of the workshop. A longer absence, irrespective of the reason, will not permit the continuation of participation and will not allow the obtaining of the certificate of participation.

Workshop fee: For early registration (up to 31 August – 120 €). We offer 10 € discount and the possibility of paying only half of the reduced fee (60 €) at the early registration and the other half (60 €) until November 10. After August 31 you will need to pay the whole fee (130 €) at registration.

Number of participants: A maximum of 30 people.

Number of registered people: 16.

Note: the attendance of the 20 hours of workshop will be counted as 20 of the 80 mandatory hours of systemic couple and family therapy workshops/conferences participation which are part of the training curriculum of ATF-PF.
